SAVOIR-FAIRE BEHIND THE DIOR AND RIMOWA COLLECTION
Bridging sartorial heritage and precision engineering, Dior and RIMOWA's innovative capsule collection showcases the best of both Houses' savoir-faire.
At the heart of the collaboration, the special edition collection challenges the boundaries of functional luxury by elevating the concept of 'luggage' to fashionable statement pieces meant for daily wear. To achieve this fusion, Dior and RIMOWA reinterpreted select designs from RIMOWA's repertoire in collaboration with Dior Men's Artistic Director, Kim Jones.
At each stage of its manufacture, the collection has been crafted using techniques honed for more than a century. To achieve its signature look, RIMOWA employed its mastery of aluminium anodising to inscribe flawless colour and patterning into the material's pristine surface. A meticulous process locks colour pigments into the pores of the metal alloy resulting in a lasting metallic sheen that lends the design a unique and vibrant look. Just the engineering of each can take up to several hours prior to a lengthy hand-finishing and quality control process ensures the flawless finishing of each individual piece.
